When you delete an account from Instagram, all your photos, comments, videos and followers disappear permanently. In short, it’s like you were never on Instagram.
After clearing your account, you can choose to create a new one with exactly the same username as you had before. You can also skip Instagram altogether or create a new account under a new name. It will be like a new start in life!
Save your account first!
Before deleting your Instagram account, it’s a good idea to download a copy of everything you’ve posted on there.
- Click on your picture to go to your profile
- Click on the three bars in the right corner and “Your activity”
- Click on “Download your information” and fill in the details
In the settings you can also add new accounts or switch accounts, if you have several to choose from.
Delete your entire account on Instagram
If you feel ready to delete your entire account, follow these steps:
- Go to the website https://www.instagram.com/accounts/login/?next=/accounts/remove/request/permanent/ from a computer or mobile (you are asked to log in to Instagram if you are not already logged in)
- Choose a reason for deleting your account and re-enter your password
- Click on “Delete”
After thirty days, your account and all its contents have disappeared without a trace – just as you wanted!
Note that if you just want to take a break from Instagram while you think about other things or take up a new hobby, you can also choose to temporarily pause your account.
